Why Ceramic Coating Matters in Vancouver
Vancouver’s climate is brutal on car paint. With over 160 rainy days per year, coastal salt air, acid rain, UV exposure, and road grime from the Sea-to-Sky and Highway 1 — your factory clear coat takes a beating year-round. Traditional wax lasts weeks. A professional ceramic coating lasts years, forming a hard, hydrophobic barrier that repels water, dirt, bird droppings, tree sap, and UV damage on contact. If you park outside, drive daily, or care about your car’s appearance and resale value — ceramic coating is one of the best investments you can make.

What Is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds with your vehicle’s factory clear coat, creating a semi-permanent protective layer. Unlike wax or sealants that sit on top of the paint and wash away, ceramic coating becomes part of the surface — it won’t wipe off, break down in rain, or require constant reapplication. Once cured, it creates a hard, glass-like shield that repels water, mud, and road grime, blocks UV rays that cause paint oxidation and fading, resists chemical stains from bird droppings and tree sap, reduces light scratches and swirl marks, and makes washing faster and easier.
Why Gtechniq?
Not all ceramic coatings are equal. At Drippy Customs, we use Gtechniq professional-grade products — the same coatings trusted by detailers and enthusiasts worldwide. Gtechniq coatings are engineered for superior bonding, long-term durability, and exceptional hydrophobic performance in real-world conditions. Gtechniq products are only available to professional installers — you won’t find them in a bottle at Canadian Tire. When you book with Drippy Customs, you’re getting a professional product applied by someone who takes the prep work seriously, because proper prep is what separates a coating that lasts a week from one that lasts a decade.
Our Process — What to Expect
Step 1 — Wash & Decontamination: Your vehicle is hand washed and chemically decontaminated to remove brake dust, tar, tree sap, and bonded contaminants. A clay bar treatment ensures the surface is completely clean before polishing.
Step 2 — Machine Polish: Every package includes a 1-step machine polish to remove light swirl marks and enhance gloss. Deeper correction is available as an add-on.
Step 3 — Panel Wipe Down: Each panel is wiped with an IPA solution to remove any polish residue and ensure the ceramic bonds cleanly to the clear coat.
Step 4 — Ceramic Coating Application: Gtechniq ceramic coating is applied panel by panel. Every surface is covered — hood, fenders, doors, bumpers, roof, and trunk.
Step 5 — Curing: The coating is left to cure. You’ll receive specific aftercare instructions including how long to keep the vehicle dry.
Step 6 — Final Inspection: We inspect the vehicle under proper lighting to confirm full, even coverage and a flawless finish before returning your vehicle.
Ceramic Coating FAQs
How long does ceramic coating last? Depending on the package, our Gtechniq coatings last between 3 and 10 years with proper maintenance.
Does ceramic coating prevent scratches? It adds hardness and reduces light swirl marks but is not a replacement for PPF and won’t prevent rock chips or deep scratches.
Can I take my car through a car wash? We recommend hand washing only. Automatic brush car washes can degrade the coating over time.
How long do I need to keep my car dry after coating? Typically 24–48 hours minimum. We’ll give you specific instructions at pickup.
Can ceramic coating be applied to a new car? Absolutely — new cars are ideal candidates. Coating right away protects the factory paint from day one.
What’s the difference between ceramic coating and wax? Wax sits on top of the paint and washes away within weeks. Ceramic coating chemically bonds to the clear coat and lasts years.
Do you offer paint correction before coating? Yes. Every package includes a 1-step polish. Deeper correction is available for an additional $300–$500.
